123 magic toolbox
NO STARS. It would of been nice if they let u know that you have to read the book first before you can use the app. They tell u this after u buy it.

I really think this is a great app that helps me be consistent. I have read most of the book and was wondering if they would make an app, but what should I put on the charts for my husband & I?

I tried this system when my kids were younger and it left me frustrated. I think my kids were too young and I never actually read the whole book, I didnt think I needed to. I just read the "cliff notes" version of information that I found online and figured that was good enough. Overall, it didnt work and I wrote off the program. Now, a couple years later my kids just turned 4 and 5 and I am revisiting 123 Magic. I read the book in depth and am using this app along with the methods I learned in the book. I am pleased to say it is working! I think last time I tried this program I counted for everything, not just "start" behavior, which is tempting to do. That is probably a key difference, along with my kids being a little older. Also, I dont start the timer until my kids are quiet. I will just sit down at their bedroom door without looking at them and browse at the parenting tips while waiting for them to settle down. Its a good reminder for me to stay on task and stick with the program. My suggestion to the app developers is to make an option for the timer to be visible (a red pie graph that gets smaller and smaller) like other timer apps out there. Overall, its a fair, solid system and the app/book combo is well worth your investment of $10-15 to ease the chaos at home. From the reviews I have read online, it seems the tree-hugging, attachment parenting hippies think 123 Magic is not gentle enough and the program disregards a childs emotions. On the other hand, the uber-conservative fundamentalist spare-the-rod-spoil-the-child crowd thinks time-outs are for sissies. Good thing were just a middle of the road, mainstream American family who can appreciate 123 Magics simplicity and effectiveness. As long as it WORKS its fine by me.
